The International
Funds Conference produced an enviable list of internationally respected
speakers for the 2009 event, and we have been extremely honoured by
the number of world class speakers that have made themselves available
for our 2010 conference. Our goal is to make this into an annual event
that every major player in our industry will have marked on their
calender as ‘must attend’ and we have taken a big step
forward in pursuit of that goal with the speakers and panelists we
have assembled this year.

Lawrence is a partner at STS Capital Partners a boutique international
investment bank. STS has 20 partners and over 250 associates in the
USA (New York, Washington, Miami, Chicago, Houston, San Francisco,
Los Angeles), Canada (Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa, Montreal), the Caribbean
(Cayman Islands, Barbados, Bahamas) and across Central and South America
and Europe.
Lawrence works on both good book and distressed book transactions.
On the good book side he provides mergers and acquisitions and corporate
finance services to offshore and financial services companies and
is currently involved in the acquisition and disposal of a number
of offshore entities. STS is also involved in the set up, management
and development of a number of funds and corporations many with a
distressed opportunity or green technology focus.
On distressed book transactions he leads the distressed asset trading
and hedge fund restructuring and realization service lines for STS
globally.
From Enron Europe and multimillion dollar hedge funds to smaller privately
owned businesses Lawrence has extensive experience of supporting entities
through financial restructurings through to formal insolvencies having
acted as restructuring advisor and insolvency practitioner. Formerly
with PwC, he has over 16 years experience in providing a range of
crisis management solutions to stakeholders (investors, creditors,
managers, directors and regulators) in corporate restructuring situations,
insolvencies and financial investigations.
STS Capital provide a number of innovative solutions and services
to the troubled hedge fund market often for funds that require restructuring,
those with difficult or illiquid assets, funds with distressed or
special opportunity strategies, and those troubled funds with issues
raising concern or frustrating investors. STS aims to bring true independence,
enhanced visibility for investors and drive a process to protect and
enhance asset values. In doing so STS work in collaboration with and
can introduce to a situation a select pool of independent fund managers,
directors and asset class specialists from the across the world’s
capital markets as each project requires.

Lawrence is a
Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, a qualified
Member of the Association of Business Recovery Professionals of the
United Kingdom, a member of R3, INSOL, the American Bankruptcy Institute
and is an accredited mediator. He is also an advisor to or director
of a number of funds and corporations.
